The relationship between families and Northfield Community
Nursery School is exciting and interesting, linked by the
opportunity to observe the children learn and grow. Thank you
for sharing this with us. On behalf of our staff members,
welcome. We are so glad you are here!

Parent
Involvement:
Parents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the
Nursery School activities. There are many ways in which a parent
can volunteer his/her time. Help is sometimes needed in the
classroom for special projects, upcoming events and parties.
Help is also always needed and appreciated for fundraising, toy cleaning, and
other endeavors throughout the school year. Please feel free to
contact
the Hospitality Committee to
volunteer your time. We sincerely appreciate every volunteer effort, big and small.
Board of Directors:
Help by applying for a two-year term on the Board.
Interested parents are invited to attend Board meetings held at NFCNS
the 1st Wednesday of every month. Applications will be accepted
at that time. For more information, see
Board of
Directors or contact any board member.
Room Parent:
Parent participation
makes a big difference! Volunteering to become a room
parent offers parents the opportunity to observe children in a
group, to spend time with children and to share special talents
and ideas with children. Interested parents will work with teachers to define where
parent volunteers may be helpful. This may include classroom help
with special class projects, holiday parties, etc.
2008-2009 Room
Parents NFCNS
typically has two room parents per class.
School Newsletters:
The
school uses various forms of written communication to keep the
parents informed of the activities in each classroom and at the
school. Each month the Board of Directors publishes NFCNS News.
The newsletter contains articles on early childhood development,
activities and upcoming school events. The newsletter is
published by Dana Palmer (who does a wonderful job!) and is distributed in the "Blue Bags".
Classroom Volunteer:
Please share your special skills or interests with us!
The school is happy to welcome any parent with a special
interest, hobby or profession to come into our classroom and
share time with the children. Please get in touch with any one of the NFCNS
Hospitality Committee Members, room parents, or
your child’s teacher if your are interested in volunteering your
time.
Community Outreach:
Throughout the year, Northfield Community Nursery School will
encourage our school community to support organizations in
surrounding communities that are responsive to people in need.
The school lobby will serve as a drop off point for various
items that selected charities have requested.
