NFCNS is very much a
family school, and parents are encouraged to be involved whether
through the Board of Directors, field trips, extracurricular and
enrichment offerings, or classroom participation. Parents
frequently confer with faculty members, attend school functions,
speak to classes of students, and take an active part in the
many Board-sponsored events throughout the year.
Welcome Coffee:
Parent Coffees are held during the first few days of school when
the class schedules are shortened. This is an opportunity for
parents, especially those who are new to the school, to meet
other parents and become acquainted with the school routine.
TV Tune-Out Week:
In collaboration with the
Winnetka Alliance for Early Childhood,
the nursery school encourages its families to turn off the TV
for one week from
Sunday, March 1–
Saturday, March 7, 2009. Many of the businesses in the area provide events to keep the
children busy during this week. Look for a listing of ideas,
things to do and places to go with your children in their tote
bags.
New Student Open House:
School is closed to our regular students for the day in order to
give all in-coming and prospective new students the opportunity
to experience our facility, staff and some of the day-to-day
activities. This year’s Open House will be
May 14, 2008.
Those interested should contact Randy Orlove, the Director at
(847) 446-1116.
Annual Benefit:
The annual benefit is a fun social affair designed to raise
funds for the Nursery School. These funds provide teacher
bonuses, scholarships, and capital for updated equipment. The
benefit features
fine food
and a raffle
as well as a an
online auction and
silent auction.
Much time and energy is needed to promote the success of the
benefit. Volunteers and donations are greatly appreciated.
We look forward to seeing all NFCNS families, their friends and
alumni at this exciting event. Contact Cheri Tracy 847-446-8758 for further details.
Special Visits:
Visitors are welcome at our school. Please notify the Director
if you wish to visit the school. Parents are welcome to visit
their child’s classroom for part of the morning/afternoon if
they pre-arrange it with the child’s teacher.
