NFCNS Child
Illness Policy
We all know how important it is to keep our children and
ourselves healthy. The following illness policy is designed to
do just that. It also assures that your children will receive
consistency of care if our teachers remain healthy as well!
Children should not attend NFCNS with following conditions:
Fever
Rash without a doctors note stating that it is not contagious
and the child may attend school.
Diarrhea defined as runny, loose stools
Vomiting
Wheezing
Strep throat
Chickenpox
Lethargy
Ear pain
Persistent or barky cough
Runny nose that cannot be contained by the child (child cannot
wipe his/her nose and/or mucous is not contained to the child
making contact with equipment/other children)
If your child develops any of these symptoms at school, we will
notify you. For your childs comfort and to reduce the possible
spread of infection, you must pick up your child within 30
minutes of our phone call.
An Illness Alert will be distributed via email and posted hard
copy on your childs bulletin board in the event of any
confirmed contagious illness such as pink eye, strep throat,
etc. in your childs classroom. The alert will contain
information about the condition, its symptoms, and treatment. In
order for us to track and notify families of illness, we ask
that you contact the director via email or phone to report the
confirmation of any contagious condition.
Children who have been sick, may return:
When they are fever, diarrhea, vomit free for a full 24 hours.
*If a child is sent home sick from school with a fever,
diarrhea, vomiting they will not be admitted to school the
following day.
When they have been treated with an antibiotic, when
appropriate, for a full 24 hours.
When they are able to participate comfortably in all typical
program activities, including outdoor time.
With a doctors note stating the childs condition is not
contagious and the date the child may return to school, when
appropriate.
The final decision to exclude a child from the program due to
illness or suspected illness will be made by the Director.
